FAQs about Joining 1st Burnham-on-Sea Scout Group:
Do we need to bring refreshments?
Please bring along a drink with you which must be in a sports style bottle labelled with your name. This can be water or squash however no fizzy drinks are allowed. You will be given opportunities during the meeting to take regular drinks.
Are the Leaders paid?
Remember all our Leaders are volunteers and don’t get paid for what they do. They are amazing and we thank them for volunteering.
As well as the Leaders you see we have a whole team including our Group executive, fundraisers and adminstrators. If you’re interested in getting more involved talk to your section leader.
How do I keep my contact details up to date?
Make sure you update OSM if you’ve recently moved, changed your phone number or we need to know about any special requirements you child may have. It’s important that we know so we can make sure we all enjoy our Scouting in a safe way.
How much is subs?
The cost of the subs is £15.00 per month which is payable by direct debit. For new members of the group the first month is free, we then expect payment on the 1st of every month. For example if you start in September we would except payment on the 1st October.
The subs are used for Capitation and Insurance for each child, upkeep of the hut and materials used each week. There maybe trips or occasions where there will be an added cost which we shall inform you about prior to the event.
Please note that if your child does not attend a meeting for any reason, the subs will still have to be paid for the week of absence.
What’s OSM?
All our sections use Online Scout Manager for their admin – as well as holding basic information about your child it also allows us to plan our programme, run events and collect activity payments and subscriptions more easily. When you first join you will be invited to the parent portal. If you are having issues or have any questions please ask your leaders.
